In Slumdog Millionaire, how does Jamal know the tip about how to be a contestant on the game show?

He tells a worker at the call center that you have to call in when the host (of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) says a certain word, and then explains why he knows this .. What was the explanation?

    As I recall , it was something said on the radio or TV asking people to call in to become a contestant . The whole callcenter was calling in and trying to get on the show . But, when Jamal sat down he took his friends seat and tried to get through for his friend and actually took his place instead since, he managed to get through. I am not exactly sure what you mean by a “Certain Word”.

    The certain word was “if” as in “if” you want to be a contestant on who wants to be a millionaire, call in now. I believe it was a guy who worked in technical services was the one who told him about.

    I just saw the movie a couple days ago, and I’m pretty sure samir_ is right, it was someone in technical services who told him about calling in right after “if.”
